Concise description of the directive:
There are certain critics who, having understood the party’s directives on vulgar sociological criticism which is alien to Marxism, have decided to forego class analysis of literary works altogether, limiting themselves to formal analysis and aesthetic evaluation. The others, without understanding that the vulgar sociological method is unacceptable precisely because it does not analyse content but rather arbitrarily constructed ideological models, have supplemented this method with false bourgeois aestheticism. Third parties replace logical reasoning with distasteful images to make the articles clearer for writers, forgetting that the task of the critic is not only to instruct the writer, but also to translate a literary work from the language of images to that of logical concepts for the reader, i.e. to make its ideological content explicit, to analyse the reality reflected in the work and to help the writer better understand his artistic form.
