Directive title [Year] - [Directive ID code]:

Sovetskij poet – političeskij boec (di V. Lugoskoj) [10-03-1937] - [D026]

Concise description of the directive:

Pushkin is the mirror of our poetry. In these days of Pushkin celebrations, it was discovered that Soviet readers do not want
magic and wordplay, words for their own sake, or refined rhetoric, which are the remnants of the aesthetic tradition. On the contrary, they want to read clear, vital and simple verses dedicated to courageous and intelligent people; verses written in a clear, strong language that everyone can understand. We must write on every subject as Pushkin did. Perfection of form does not mean formal gimmicks, but the maximum amount of feelings and thoughts packed into a minimum amount of words. Now we must speak our simple, honest and clear words. In our verses there must be a clear and profound evaluation of what is happening around us. We must know for certain whether we have a friend or an enemy at our side. Let’s feel like soldiers. Absolute clarity is needed. We must remember that every vague word of ours, every undefined speech, every phrase used casually in poetry, can be immediately used by the enemy. The Soviet poet is and will be a political fighter.
