Concise description of the directive:
Our poets should pay much more attention to the issues of anti-religious propaganda as the fight against priests is as topical as ever, especially before elections. Priests should be prevented from deceiving the people with religious phraseology. Mayakovsky understood well that the religious romanticism that sometimes penetrates poetry also had to be destroyed. Mayakovsky mocked idiotic rituals, even attempting to arouse a physiological revulsion towards them; he mocked superstitions only useful to priests and contrasted science with religion and the church. His language was also endowed with great expressiveness, often equal to that of popular idioms.
