Directive title [Year] - [Directive ID code]:

Buduščee – èto den'! (di V. Kiršon) [18-01-1934] - [D100]

Concise description of the directive:

In the sphere of culture, as in the sphere of economics and politics, today there are 2 opposite poles: on the one hand the Soviet Union and on the other all the forces of militant imperialism. In fact, the German fascists and the Japanese imperialists are not only our political enemies, but also the most notable representatives of fascist culture and philosophy. A year and a half ago, the RAPP was dissolved, an association that in the past had played a great role in bringing together the forces of proletarian writers, but had lately become an obstacle to the further development of literature, as it sought to isolate the group of communist writers from those who were not party members. Now that Soviet literature can fight on one front, as one army, it must be realistic, joyful and courageous, it must be able to describe our heroic Soviet workers by contrasting the rotten and decadent works of the bourgeoisie, as well as the mystical and hysterical ravings of fascism.
