Kirshon polemicises Fadeyev by asserting the possibility of obviously having not groups, but different literary currents within the single Soviet literature, as communist writers can represent different tendencies of style. Fadeyev is opposed to Kirshon’s idea; the possibility of cultivating various style tendencies runs the risk of being juxtaposed with the condemned phenomenon of gruppovshchina (subdivision of the single Soviet literature into different groups, viewed very negatively by the Plenum participants).
