Critics must be experts in the theory and philosophy of literature. Critics must teach writers, define the place of a work within literature and the role that work plays in socialist education. Criticism must be based on deep historical and literary analysis. The historical and literary premises of socialist realism must be studied. Unlike RAPP, we do not ask the writer to learn Marxist philosophy before writing; we do ask the critics to do so.
