The struggle for linguistic purity that took place on the front page of “Pravda” on 26 November must cover all sectors of work in which misplaced or invented words can distort reality. In addition to literary works, critical commentaries must also use a terse yet expressive register. Our material must be accessible to a wide circle of readers, not through vulgarisation but through its laconicism and expressiveness. We should use fewer foreign words and regionalisms.
