The Second International Writers’ Congress helped to greatly expand the international connections of Soviet writers. Now, after the congress, we must strengthen these ties. The Soviet writer plays a primary role in the defence of culture and peace, and this requires knowledge of foreign languages. Soviet writers must strengthen personal contacts with progressive writers from other countries of the world.
