Concise description of the directive:
The author describes the classics of English literature — Shaw, Wells, Galsworthy, Joyce — as being of great importance, but emphasises that their time has passed. H.G. Wells tirelessly continues to expose society’s problems and closely observes the suffering of humanity. However, what once appeared innovative and daring now seems outdated and faded. Wells, in particular, has already expressed everything he had to say and is unlikely to make any new contributions to English literature. According to Dinamov, the new English literature will be associated with the working class. If we compare the literary production of British workers with that of pre-revolutionary Russia, the comparison is favourable to the British proletariat. This is significant and even suggests that the October Revolution is not so far removed from traditional, monarchical England.
