Concise description of the directive:
Long article by A. Anisimov against Prof. Friche on his last work Zapadnoevropeyskaya literatura XX veka v yeyo glavneyshchikh proyavleniyakh (1926). Anisimov argues that the work possesses a dangerously anti-Leninist character. Friche proceeds from the urban man and the technical side of the “new capitalism” of the imperialist era and fetishizes high technology under the direct influence of the apologists of imperialism, such as Zombart, whom he quotes willingly and sympathetically. There is nothing Marxist-Leninist in his method, if anything Menshevik, and everywhere he preaches “balanced capitalism”. But, argues Anisimov, if there is all this balance in capitalism (akin to Bukharin-style “organised capitalism”), what is Friche’s view on the proletariat’s struggle?
