First ever publication in Russian of part of the writings of Marx and Engels; the one in German is actually also edited by a Russian scholar, V. Andorsky.
In this article there are many references to literary works (Faust, Shakespeare, Balzac). Commenting on the publication, there are also speeches by several Soviet scholars:

Shiller writes: “Marx and Engels appreciated Balzac so much that they said his works explained, even in relation to the most complex economic details, the books of all professional historians, economists, statesmen of that period. Marx and Engels considered ‘one of the greatest victories of the old Balzac’s realism’, and one of his most typical traits, the fact that, as Engels writes, he ‘even against his own class sympathies and political prejudices, saw the inevitable downfall of his favourite aristocrats and described them as people who did not deserve a better fate’.”
